About Gerarda
Warm, experienced, and committed to creating a confidential space where you feel safe to explore what matters most.
I completed my training at the University of Derby on a BACP-accredited Master's programme in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. My integrative framework brings together Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Attachment Theory, allowing me to adapt therapy to each person's unique needs with empathy, insight, and practical tools.
My work is grounded in professional ethics, ongoing professional development, and reflective practice. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to maintaining high standards of care and creating a confidential, non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to explore what matters most to you.
Healing isn't about perfection — it's about reclaiming a sense of wholeness and self-trust.
At the heart of my work is a belief that healing happens within relationships, in being truly heard, understood, and accepted. I work from a trauma-informed and relational perspective, recognising that our past experiences shape how we live and connect today. Therapy becomes a collaborative process, meeting you where you are and supporting both who you are and who you are becoming.
I hold a deep respect for human resilience and the ways people grow through even the most difficult experiences. Again and again, I have seen how courage and connection can help transform pain into new understanding. For me, healing is not about perfection; it is about integration, making sense of what has been, reclaiming self-trust, and discovering that strength and vulnerability can exist side by side.
I bring warmth, authenticity, and a steady presence to my sessions. You don't need to arrive with the right words or a clear plan; we begin wherever you are and move at your pace.
My Philosophy
At the heart of my work is a belief that healing happens when we feel truly heard, understood, and accepted. I see therapy as a collaborative process — I hold space for your story with compassion and curiosity, supporting you to make sense of your experiences and discover new ways forward.
I work from a trauma-informed and relational perspective, recognising that our past relationships and experiences shape how we live and connect today. My intention is always to meet you where you are.
Professional Standards
My work is grounded in professional ethics, continuing professional development, and reflective practice. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
I engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing CPD to ensure the highest standard of care — and to make sure the work I offer remains safe, thoughtful, and effective.
A Personal Note
Becoming a therapist has been a natural extension of my lifelong interest in human resilience and growth. I've seen how courage and connection can help people transform even the most painful experiences into new understanding.
This work continually reminds me of our shared capacity for change — that healing is not about being fixed, but about reclaiming a sense of self-trust and finding that strength and vulnerability can exist side by side.
